How to see…

With this Tz series (Tz-2 and on…) an experiment with patterning and color dominance has begun. The intentional spacious field includes a lattice work of pattern in which strategically placed colors and shapes present an opportunity to experience visual modulation. These works have a goal of remaining ambient for the viewer rather than presenting a conscious dialog in the painted surface which aims at convincing a state of image, action, or feeling,

In order to experience this phenomenon it is required to see the painting in a home/ gallery or studio setting, as the nuances of aspect color cannot be reproduced digitally and at such a small scale. If one were to stare at the middle orange fluorescent link for a period of time, the field of the painting would start to resonate and become “alive” by offering a family of “Strategic Optical Receptors” in the form of colors or shapes.

It is my intent to present an “open visual resource” for the viewer which will allow a meditative state of observation, in hopes of inciting a unique personal dialogue for each individual.

I will go into further detail about the inspirations behind the Tzolkin Harmonic Module in future posts.
